About Big Wag Energy

Big Wag Energy started because we kept Googling things about our dog and getting the same recycled answers on every website. You know the type, "consult your veterinarian" after eight paragraphs of nothing. We wanted something better, so we started writing it ourselves.

We launched in 2025 and we're still writing. It turns out there's a lot to say about dogs when you actually own one and aren't just rewriting the same AKC blurb for the fiftieth time.

Who's Behind This

We're a Goldendoodle household, been at it since 2023. Everything on this site comes from first-hand experience, published veterinary research, or both. We test the products we review, we own the breed we write about most, and we don't pretend to know things we don't.

Health and nutrition content on this site is reviewed by a licensed veterinarian before publication. We take that seriously, bad health advice for dogs isn't just unhelpful, it's dangerous.

Meet Winston

Winston is a ~65 lb Goldendoodle with zero personal boundaries and strong feelings about which couch cushion is his. He's the reason this site exists and also the reason we know that pet insurance is not optional. You can follow the daily nonsense on @bigwagenergy.

What We Cover

Mostly breed guides. We go deep on individual breeds, not just the cute stuff, but the vet bills, the grooming reality, whether you can actually leave the house without coming home to a destroyed couch cushion. We also write product reviews (Winston has opinions) and health articles when we learn something the hard way and figure other people should know too.

The Affiliate Thing

This site has affiliate links. When you buy something through one of our links, we get a small cut, it doesn't cost you anything extra. That money goes toward hosting, Winston's truly unreasonable treat budget, and the occasional emergency vet visit (he ate a sock once, long story).

We don't recommend things we wouldn't buy ourselves. If a product is bad, we say it's bad, even if it has a great affiliate payout. And if something needs a vet, we'll tell you to call a vet, not try to sell you a supplement.
